Self control is learning how to respond not react. It is the ability to manage your actions, feelings and emotions. Self control plays a major role in your emotional happiness. Self control can help stabilise and solve trust issues in a relationship or marriages. As a parent, sister, brother, aunty someone breaks your phone would you respond or react? A person comes and tells you lies and you discover the truth later; would you react or respond.
SELF REFLECT:
Do you have self control?
The word of God tells us to exercise self-control by disciplining our bodies (1 Cor. 9:25–27) and that caring for our physical bodies is important (1 Tim. 4:8; 5:23) Galatians 5:22-23, The spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self control.“
Self reflection question:
Every fruit always has a season:
What fruit are you harvesting each season of each year? Is it a good fruit or a bad fruit? Are you making time for yourself alone? The reason I have put my fruits into a bowl is to demonstrate self control from my understanding according to the arrangements in the Bible. Self control is last.
“EVER WONDER WHY?”
The bowl represents self control, it is a bowl where all the fruits sit in.
To be “loving”, it requires self control
To be “humble”, it requires self control
To have “peace”it starts within you and it also requires self control.
To have “joy” it requires self control. To have self control it is important to put on the full armour of God which means putting on Jesus, who will help us to have self control within ourselves.
As individuals we need to learn self acceptance. It is the act of accepting yourself and Knowing that the Bible says in Psalms 139:14, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Ephesians 2:10 also says you are God’s masterpiece. Accepting yourself is saying yes to accepting Jesus because Jesus is in you. You are his masterpiece and he loves you unconditionally. Also we have to learn to be grateful for what the Lord has already blessed us with. We should not live a life of competition but let’s live a life of appreciation
SELF REFLECT:
Is there any area of your life that you would consider as being out of control? Self reflect on:
Jealousy
gossiping
laziness
Health
“I am working on myself, for myself, by myself.”
When we look and read in Proverbs 25:27-28; “It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honourable to search out matters that are too deep.Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self control”.
-Give it to GOD
Practice self-control for it is good for your health. Use the word of God to guide you throughout your journey. We need self control to be able to look after ourselves and others around us. It all starts with you SELF. When you have self-control we will be able to manage our time and what we do with it.
“Self-control and TIME work together”
“We all want to be in control of our own lives, but when things are not right between us and God; God wants us to do the right thing? “What is the right thing?”Allowing him to be in control of the life he gave us.”
